First Holy Communion

The Eucharist is ‘the source and summit of the Christian life.’ The other sacraments, [and indeed all other aspects of the Church’s life], are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself’ - CCC 1324.

Reception of the Eucharist for the first time completes a person’s reception of the Sacraments of Initiation into the Christian life. Children should have made their First Holy Communion, this typically takes place around the age of 7 years old after a period of preparation in the parish and in the School.

If your child is in year 3 in St Fidelis school she/he can be prepared in the school. For others, there is a parish preparation programme which usually starts on 11th January to be concluded the reception of the sacrament on 24th May.
